Smallmouth, Steelhead & Stolen Cars

Written by Dave Mercer on November 2, 2010

So it does not matter what you fish for or where you fish, the goal of every fishing trip is the same – find fish. Well, thankfully with today’s high-tech electronic gizmos and gadget-finding fish and the structure they call home, it is easier today than ever in the past. Pro anglers have quickley learned how to take advantage of tools such as the Humminbird Side Imaging to find things that other anglers can’t see. Well, this past weekend Lake Erie Super Guide and tournament pro Simon Frost really found out just how good these units are.

While on a late fall fishing trip on the Welland Canal Simon and his wife and fishing partner Melanie where hammering a bunch of bass on jerkbaits and even caught a bonus rare steelhead. But this steelhead would prove to not even be close to the rarest thing the pair would find on this day. While using their Humminbird Side Imaging to find the structure that was the key to their fall fishing free-for-all they found something strange. Something really strange. What was it? A CAR!!! That’s right, A CAR!

After making a few casts at the new found structure (and catching nothing) they quickly marked the underwater automobile with their GPS and contacted the local police and the car has since been removed from the canal. Wonder if they would have reported it so quick if it had have been loaded with fish? Once again Simon Frost shows us why he is one of the top guides and most feared tournament sticks on Lake Erie. Book a day with Simon and maybe you will catch a giant smallie, a giant steelhead or even solve a crime! It’s kind of like KVD meets Matlock lol.

Please leave a comment and let us know what you think or tell us about the anything strange or weird that you may have found on the water.
