Questions (and a few answers) from All-Star Week

Written by Sarah on July 28, 2011

When was the last time that KVD, Jeff Kriet, Steve Kennedy, Davy Hite finished in the bottom four of ANYTHING, let alone a fishing tournament?

Number of former AOYs left in the running for the All-Star title? Four – Ike, Skeet, Gerald and Aaron. That sounds kind of like a boy band. Speaking of anglers who are identifiable by a single name, why doesn’t our sport have our own version of Seal, Cher or Madonna?

Number of former Classic winners left? Just Ike and Skeet, who slid into the last two available positions.

Number of rookies in the hunt? Our main man Ott Defoe. That man, my friends, is no rookie. As Larry King might say, “ he has ice water running through his veins.”

Number of Alabamians in the final eight? One and a half (Swindle and Martens)

Number of Californians in the final eight? One and a half (Skeet and Martens).

Angler who’s probably most upset he didn’t make it? Hometown hero Russ Lane.

Can Casey Ashley become the first Elite Series angler to win two tour-level events this year?

Will Martens talk to any cats on the bank, as he was televised doing at the Arkansas River this year and the California Delta a few years ago (and who knows how many non-televised times in between?)?
